Category:People willing to answer your questions

From CONTENTdm Users Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

There are many people in the CONTENTdm user community who are willing to answer questions about all aspects of using the software, from project management to metadata best practices, to api customizations. A lot of this takes place on the listserve, and hopefully on this wiki. Sometimes outside contact is desired.

If you are willing to answer questions for people please do the following:

  • Create a wiki account
  • After you login, click your username in the upper left to get to your user page. (Your user page is User:your-user-name.)
  • Add the following info to your user page.
    • Your contact information.
      • Don't put your real e-mail address because if you do, you will get spam. Instead obfuscate it by putting something like username at institution dot edu using at or {at}. This makes it harder, but probably not impossible, for robots to harvest your address.
      • If you don't want to be contacted by phone, don't put your phone number.
      • If you only want to be contacted via the wiki or listserve, just say so.
    • Put your user page into this category by putting the text [[Category:People_willing_to_answer_your_questions]] somewhere in your user page.
    • A paragraph that describes your areas of expertise or the types of questions you would be most comfortable answering.
    • Suggested but optional:
      • A link to your institution's CONTENTdm collections
      • Links to any wiki pages that you have particularly contributed to. (People can also use the What links here tool in the left nav, if pages you create have links to your user page)
